With Honda announcing their 0 Series saloon last year, they’re getting closer to a production version with the reveal of 2 new concepts at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. What’s more is that the production ready versions will be sold in the USA as early as 2026.

The 0 SUV will first arrive on American shores during the first half of 2026, whereas the 0 Saloon will shortly follow suit during late 2026. Both vehicles will be produced and assembled at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio.

Let’s talk design starting with the 0 SUV. Naturally, it’s way bulkier than the 0 Saloon with a taller and wider stance. There’s an interesting raked windshield that slopes to the roofline, where it then flattens out to the hatch at the rear. The roofline is pretty low and a thick D-pillar is also present. It boasts a pretty large lightbar at the front, where it displays the Honda logo and pixelated headlights similar to the Hyundai N Vision 74. Like most EV’s today, there’s also flushed door handles on the side.

Honda must’ve taken cues from the second-gen Insight, that tiny rear window makes rear visibility a suggestion, in which they'll probably add a rear camera. There’s a U-shapped taillight that wraps around the hatch, making the rear sort of look like the letter H (for Honda) if seen from afar.

The 0 Saloon still looks similar to the one we saw at CES last year, with the Japanese automaker changing last year's Diablo-ish front end to a Gallardo-like one. The front end’s display has now been changed to a more production-friendly blank panel, whereas the boxy wedge shape chassis and thick D-pillar remains. They also removed the gull-wing doors in favor of 4 regular car doors for a production look. The coolest addition is the new headlight retracting cover that closely resembles the dearly missed pop-up headlights.

At the rear, where the 0 SUV had a small rear window, the 0 Saloon says “how about none?”. Honda’s way of ‘looking forward’ feels a bit too literal here. In the place of the rear window, there’s a rectangular panel with “infinity” concentric taillight rings that’s accompanied with a huge rear diffuser.

The interior of the vehicles look incredibly similar, with a dashboard that’s just dominated with 4 large screens. The screens act as the digital cluster, climate controls, a dedicated passenger infotainment and two displays for the side camera. Aside from the yoke steering wheel and stalks, physical buttons are virtually non-existent. The only difference is the seats in the 0 SUV.

Honda has also announced some of the technologies used in both 0 series vehicles. The vehicle operating system is dubbed as ASIMO OS, which pays tribute to a humanoid robot they built 2 decades ago. The system will be developed in-house, while incorporating new AI technologies for unique experiences. The ECU will still control driver assists and the infotainment, whereas the software will allow for new features, services and even vehicle dynamics to be updated wirelessly for convenience.

The 0 series will have Level 3 Autonomous Driving capabilities, meaning the car will drive autonomously without the driver’s attention, so they can watch movies or even play video games if they so wish. The Level 3 system will initially be locked to traffic driving on highways, then to wider areas afterwards. Despite Honda’s aspirations to be the first automaker to provide ‘eyes off’ autonomous driving, it's unclear whether this feature will be available at launch due to legislative concerns.

In a collaborative effort with Renesas, both companies will co-develop the chipsets for the next generation of the 0 series (not 0 SUV or Saloon).

Honda has also established a joint venture with 7 other companies to create a charging network in the USA, where they’re aiming for 30,000 stations by the year 2030. The network will also adopt Tesla’s North America Charging Standard ports for a total of 100,000 stations.

Back at home, Honda claims that the 0 series has a home energy management system, which allows the cars to charge themselves when the electricity bills are low and renewable energy is being used. They will also send back access energy to the grid if electricity gets pricey or is in low supply.
