Neta V Receives Zero-Star Safety Rating in Current ASEAN NCAP Protocol
The Neta V, which is currently Malaysia's cheapest EV, has received a zero-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP under the 2021-2025 protocol. With an overall score of just 28.55 out of 100 points, it highlighted significant weaknesses across various critical areas.
In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) assessment, the Neta V achieved a score of 7.89 points. The frontal impact tests shows poor structural integrity, with vulnerabilities in the driver's head, chest, and lower legs. Additionally, the front passenger's chest protection was deemed inadequate, which raises serious safety concerns in these areas.
For the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category, the Neta V scored 13.51 points. While it managed a reasonable COP performance through vehicle-based installations and dynamic tests, the limitations in child restraint system compatibility and installation choices hindered its results.
The Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) category saw a score of 7.14 points, primarily due to the lack of advanced safety features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Detection. The vehicle only includes basic systems such as Effective Braking and Avoidance (EBA) and a driver seatbelt reminder.
In the Motorcyclist Safety (MS) pillar, the Neta V earned zero points. This includes the lack of systems like Blind Spot Detection and Advanced Rear Visualization, which would greatly enhance the safety of motorcyclists.
The Neta is not only the first EV to be tested in the new protocol, but it's also the first to receive a zero-star rating under it too. The EV's current safety profile calls for further upgrades to it's chassis design and integration of advanced safety technologies to meet higher industry standards.
