Ferrari 12Cilindri Lands In Malaysia, Berlinetta and Spider Variants Starting from RM 4.7 M
Ferrari has unveiled its latest V12 masterpiece, the Ferrari 12Cilindri, in Malaysia. The 12Cilindri, or 12 Cylinders in Italian, will be available in both Berlinetta and Spider forms with pricing starting at RM4.7 million for the Berlinetta and RM5.1 million for the Spider.
At the heart of the Ferrari 12Cilindri lies a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, the "Colombo V12." This engine produces an astounding 830 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 678 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. Ferrari has enhanced the performance of this engine over its predecessor, the 812 Superfast, achieving a significant 30 hp increase. The power is channeled through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) for those fast shifts. The 12Cilindri can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 340 km/h
To improve engine dynamics, Ferrari's engineers have incorporated titanium con rods that are 40% lighter than before, as well as a rebalanced crankshaft and F1-inspired valvetrain. They’ve also added advanced technologies such as Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) coating to reduce friction, ensuring smooth power delivery and a responsive throttle.
Ferrari has paid great attention to the chassis design of the 12Cilindri, ensuring that its performance is matched by agility and precision on the road. The car features an all-aluminium chassis, which is both lightweight and incredibly stiff, ensuring a perfect 47.8:52.2 weight distribution.
In addition to the lightweight chassis, the 12Cilindri is equipped with advanced features such as four-wheel independent steering, a system that improves cornering performance and reduces turning radius. The car also incorporates Side Slip Control 8.0 (SSC), Virtual Short Wheelbase (PCV) 3.0, and an ABS Evo system for optimal cornering and handling.
The Ferrari 12Cilindri also features an active aero system, including rear flaps that generate 50 kg of downforce at speeds of 250 km/h to help the car remain stable at high speeds. Additionally, the use of vortex generators and a front-hinged bonnet for easier access to the engine compartment further optimize airflow and performance.
Inside, the 12Cilindri sports a dual-cockpit design that gives the passenger a greater sense of involvement in the driving experience. The cabin is fitted with three screens, including a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, a 15.6-inch driver’s display, and a 8.8-inch passenger display. This setup is said to optimize the amount of performance data given to both passenger and driver on the track.
Despite the use of a V12, Ferrari has also incorporated the use of sustainable materials, such as Alcantara upholstery for the seats made from 65% recycled polyester, an eco-friendly move indeed.
The design of the Ferrari 12Cilindri takes inspiration from Ferrari’s rich heritage while embracing modern sophistication. The car’s exterior, designed by Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Styling Centre, boasts sleek, muscular lines, with features that make the car look quite sexy.
For those who opt for the Ferrari 12Cilindri, the purchase also includes a seven-year maintenance program, which is a great deal and offers peace of mind for owners.
