JPJ Issues 107,014 Summonses in 2025 CNY Operation
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has concluded its 2025 CNY Special Operation, which ran from January 20 to February 9, resulting in a total of 107,014 summons issued.
Throughout this period, JPJ officers inspected a total of 429,423 vehicles, leading to the seizure of 724 vehicles. The most prevalent violation was operating without a valid road tax or insurance, accounting for 29,994 cases. Following this, there were 20,414 instances of individuals driving without a valid or expired license, and 15,610 cases involving technical infractions such as defective tyres and brakes.
JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance, urging motorists to ensure their vehicles are in proper order before embarking on journeys to mitigate risks to other road users.
Notably, the number of notices issued this year saw a significant decrease compared to the previous year, dropping from 207,127 in 2024 to 107,014 in 2025. Datuk Aedy attributed this decline to more effective enforcement strategies and increased awareness among motorists regarding the consequences of non-compliance.
"By reinforcing the perception of being caught, we aim to lower accident and fatality rates through strict enforcement," he stated.
As part of the operation, a temporary ban on goods vehicles was enforced for four days (January 27-28 and February 1-2). Despite this restriction, JPJ detected some operators failing to adhere to the ban, leading to the detention of 21 vehicles under Section 59 of the Road Transport Act 1987. Additionally, 140 notices were issued for expired road tax and other related offences.
