Earlier today, Perodua has confirmed that there will be a Full Model Change (FMC) this year on one of the models in their lineup, and according to Paultan.org, it may be either the Myvi or Bezza.

The announcement follows Perodua’s aim to double its capital investment to be more self-reliant. It’s been a hot minute since Perodua has released a new model, and the FMC model alongside their first EV seems to be breaking the silence.

Perodua's lineup currently consists of the Axia, Aruz, Ativa, Alza, Myvi and Bezza. According to Paultan.org’s analysis, the Myvi and Bezza seem to be the most likely to be receiving the FMC. The Alza, Axia and Ativa are more recent models and the Aruz seems to have no plans, meaning that the Myvi and Bezza are up for contention.

This makes total sense when the Myvi hasn’t seen a major remodel since its third generation introduction in 2018, whereas the Bezza has been the grandpa of lineup since its introduction in 2016. Both models are of priority for Perodua as they’re the best selling models in Malaysia currently.

Mind you that the FMC only covers one model, so it’s either the Myvi or Bezza that’s going to receive the treatment. Out of the two, the Bezza seems most likely, as it looks dated and lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) capabilities compared to the current Myvi.

With Perodua’s aim to be more self-reliant, the Bezza and Myvi may see more in-house engineering by the national automaker, though still expect it to be lightly based on the DNGA platform.

As for the powertrain, both three and four cylinder engines in the Bezza and Myvi are probably going to remain the same, with some tweaks to make it more efficient. Naturally, this means that the engines are going to be mated with Dual-Mode CVT. A hybrid model option could also be plausible, as Perodua did make one for the Ativa.

Meanwhile, the national carmaker's rival, Proton, has also had it's sedan's new refresh spied on a few weeks ago. With two of the best selling sedans in Malaysia getting overhauls this year, the competition seems to be heating up for the affordable sedan segment.

No matter which model Perodua decides to update next, rest assured that the Malaysian market will be pleased to see fan favorites getting a revamp.
