Ferrari's First EV To Be Unveiled In October

It’s officially happening folks, Ferrari is set to unveil their first ever EV on Thursday, October 9 this year at their headquarters in Maranello, Italy, Reuters reports.

According to Ferrari’s CEO Benedetto Vigna, the EV will be 1 of 6 models to be released this year. 

Earlier last year, Ferrari was seen testing a prototype of the supposed EV, showcasing some gnarly quad vertical exhaust tips hanging on the rear bumper and a SUV body style. The test mule is based on the Maserati Levante, which was also used to test the Ferrari Purosangue as well. This all indicates that the new EV will most likely be a high-seating SUV.

Other than that, the official looks, name and specifications of the new EV have yet to be revealed.

Now before purists raise their pitch forks, the prancing horse has said to Drive magazine that although they’re breaking their tradition of screaming combustion engines, the new EV is promised to be “a true Ferrari”. Elements like fun factor and sound will be as authentic as a Ferrari can be, according to Ferrari's head of product and marketing Emanual Carando.

Prices are not official yet, but an insider has previously told Reuters that the starting price is 500,000€ (Euros). If that wasn’t enough, the news outlet also states that Ferrari customers usually pay 15-20% over the vehicle’s price for personal options. In total, one needs to shell out an eye watering RM2,758,784 to drive one home in Malaysia, and that’s excluding taxes and insurance.
