Free 24-Hour KTM Trains For 2 Days During Thaipusam
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced a special 24-hour train service to accommodate the influx of devotees and visitors during upcoming Thaipusam celebration. This extended service will be available from February 9th to February 12th, ensuring smoother travel across the Klang Valley.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed that, as part of this initiative, KTMB will also offer free train rides on February 10th and 11th to reduce congestion and enhance accessibility for those attending the religious festivities.
To meet the anticipated demand, KTMB is ramping up its services by adding 44 additional train trips per day on top of the usual 96, bringing the total daily trips to 140. The increase in frequency will be particularly significant on Saturday, February 10th, when the number of devotees is expected to peak. Over the entire four-day period, KTMB will operate a total of 494 trips, with 118 additional services provided to accommodate the surge in passengers.
Passengers traveling to Batu Caves, one of the key Thaipusam pilgrimage sites, will benefit from extended train operations beyond the usual schedule. Additional trains will depart from Pulau Sebang to Batu Caves at 9:55 p.m. and from Klang to Batu Caves at 9:30 p.m.. Furthermore, KL Sentral will see an increase in train frequency, with services running every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. instead of the usual hourly intervals.
With an expected 500,000 passengers, KTMB has been hard at work since January to ensure all passengers have a seamless travel experience.
