It's about time for a new RAV4 and Toyota seems to agree! According to reports from Australian portal Drive, an image showing a glimpse into the next-generation RAV4's design, was captured during a Chinese dealer conference has surfaced on Weibo.
The forthcoming RAV4 appears to embrace Toyota's latest "Hammerhead" design language, characterized by C-shaped headlights connected by a slim grille. The body-colored honeycomb grille, flanked by large inlets and a downturned air intake that makes it look similar to the new Prius and Camry.
Distinctive features such as raised bonnet edges flow seamlessly into an black roof. Chiseled sides emphasize the upswept window line and pronounced rear fender bulge, while squared-off wheel arches and black plastic rockers resemble elements of the current model. These design cues hint that the new RAV4 may continue to utilize the existing TNGA-K platform, similar to the approach taken with the latest Camry.Credit: pochi2100 on X
The leaked image looks a whole lot like the previous spy shot from a Japanese X (Previously Twitter) account by the name of "pochi2100". As for the specifications, reports from Japanese website Creative Trend suggest that the RAV4 will receive an upgraded plug-in hybrid system, potentially offering a pure electric range of approximately 130 km. There's also rumors going around that a fully electric RAV4 may debut alongside the PHEV variant. In the inside, the SUV may receive the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of driving assists and safety features, as well as some quality of life improvements like better tech or seats.
Other than that, that's all we have at the moment. The SUV may debut as early as April at the New York Auto Show, or as late as October during the Japan Mobility Show but it's all speculation. One thing's for sure though, the RAV4 is getting it's new makeover.
