50% Toll Discount for Class A Vehicles: Jan 27-28 CNY

Well here’s some good news. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has just announced that all Class A vehicles will receive a 50% discount on all tolls, except national border tolls, from January 27th to 28th.

This is followed by the previous announcement from Nanta regarding the abolition of free tolls during festive seasons. Since then, the government has backtracked slightly, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim saying that the free tolls should only be available for the B40 and M40 income groups, and that they’re in talks of implementing such criteria.

Today, Nanta states that the government agrees to a 50% discount and will cover an estimated RM20.8 million to compensate for the costs of toll concessions. 

"The discount is a continuation of the festive season toll assistance consistently provided by the government for all four major festive seasons in the Peninsular since 2023," the works minister said.

Since 2023, the government has spent RM356.18 million for toll exemptions during festive seasons. 



Nanta has also advised all motorists to take advantage of the toll discounts and plan ahead of your journey.“Users are advised to download the MYPLUS-TTA app (official) for travel time advisory (TTA) to enhance safety and ensure a smooth driving experience so that we can all safely reach our destinations and fully embrace the spirit of this Chinese New Year celebration. 

Road users are reminded to always comply with signage instructions and information displayed on the Variable Message System (VMS). Those using the Smart Lane are urged to signal early before entering the activated lane, drive within the specified speed limits, and stay alert to their surroundings," he emphasized.
