JPJ’s CNY 2025 Crackdown: Escape the 9 Traffic Sins
The festive season is here, and so is JPJ’s Operasi Khas Tahun Baru Cina 2025. Running from January 20 to February 9, this operation themed “Pandu Cermat, Sampai Selamat” (Drive Carefully, Arrive Safely) aims to curb road accidents during the Chinese New Year rush.
Here’s the kicker: JPJ officers are laser-focused on nine major traffic offences, dubbed the “Nine Deadly Sins”. These include:
- Speeding – Slow down before JPJ slows you down.
- Red-Light Jumping – Red means stop, not “maybe.”
- Overtaking on Double Lines – It’s not a Formula 1 race.
- Driving on the Emergency Lane – It’s for emergencies, not shortcuts.
- Queue Cutting – No one likes a line cutter.
- Mobile Phone Use – Texting can wait; safety can’t.
- Skipping Seatbelts or Helmets – Your safety belt isn’t a decoration.
- Heavy Vehicles on Fast Lanes – Stay in your lane, literally.
- Overweight Lorries – Lighten up, or JPJ will lighten your wallet.
JPJ’s Safety Initiatives
JPJ is not just about enforcement. Through 30 advocacy programmes—safety kit distributions, talks, and displays—they’re driving home the importance of road safety.
