Perodua and UTM Sign MOU For Next Generation EV Development
Perodua and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) yesterday to accelerate the development of next generation EV’s (xEV)
According to the MOU, the collaboration includes fields such as academia, research and development (RnD), talent development and training.
Perodua President and CEO Dato' Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad is optimistic about the partnership, saying that they’re hoping that Malaysia can create their own xEV technology in the near future, and be able to pass it to future generations.
“With this MoU, Perodua is taking a step further from our original mandate from being a vehicle for technological transfer to becoming an entity that drives technological development,” the CEO added.
The MOU also includes the construction of a satellite lab at UTM’s main campus at Skudai, Johor. It will be the place where Perodua and UTM share knowledge and advancements in new technologies, with a focus on xEV development.
UTM deputy vice-chancellor of research and innovation Prof Dr Rosli Md Illias emphasized that the partnership is critical in our automotive industry.
“This collaboration underscores the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry that can empower graduates with the skills and knowledge.”
