New Proton Saga Spotted: New Generation Or Minor Facelift?

A facebook user by the name of Azahar Jalil recently spotted a trailer that’s carrying a camouflaged car that looks to be the Proton Saga. He claimed that the trailer was seen driving around the Sepang International Circuit area but it’s unknown what it exactly is.

Most people online have speculated that this could potentially be a facelifted, or MC3, Proton Saga. The smoking gun has to be both the headlights and rims as they can be found on the current generation Saga. 

Judging from what we can see in the pictures, there isn’t much information given to us, no thanks to the large black cloth that drapes over the front half. Alright then, keep your secrets Proton.

However, many are confused as to why this model would exist. Everything in the pictures point to a minor facelift, but Proton and Geely have both confirmed that they’re already in the works for a next generation Saga that's to be revealed this year, so why would they bother?



There are several possibilities around this decision, the first being that Proton is deciding to sell two generations of the Saga at the same time, which allows them to keep the older model affordable for buyers. The second is that this minor facelift could be released as a temporary placeholder for the next-generation Saga due to delays in development.

Whatever the reason is for this mysterious model, all will likely be revealed tonight at 9PM during the Proton X50’s Sport Edition announcement. Proton hinted at a special announcement following the unveiling of the limited edition X50, which is speculated to be the debut of the new generation or facelifted Saga. Until then though, take all speculation with a grain of salt.
