BYD Partners With Grab For More Eco-friendly Ride Options in SEA

Grab and BYD have announced that they're having a regional partnership across South East Asia, with an ambitious rollout of 50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across the region. The collaboration is to increase the amount of green vehicles available for ride-share customers.

Grab’s driver-partners now have access to BYD’s cutting-edge EVs. These vehicles come with extended battery warranties and ‘the most competitive rates’ for rental and ownership. Whether renting from fleet partners or opting for financing support under Grab’s car ownership schemes, drivers will have flexible options for eco-friendly rides. 

Meanwhile, Grab users in Singapore and Thailand can toggle on the ‘Eco-Friendly Ride’ option to prioritize green rides at no extra cost. Though Malaysia isn’t included in this phase of the initiative, Grab’s Denza D9 luxury electric MPV will soon power GrabExec fleets in the country.



At the core of this partnership is a BYD's lineup of EV's. The Denza D9, a premium seven-seater MPV, headlines the GrabExec fleet with advanced tech and a luxurious ride. Other models like the BYD Atto 3, Seal, and M6 round out a lineup that caters for any need.

This partnership will utilize deep IoT integration between Grab's services and the EV's, allowing them to seamlessly connect. Drivers can access Grab services directly on BYD’s large screens for convenience and removes the need to take out their phone. 

Sensor and telemetry data from these vehicles also feed Grab’s real-time systems, offering valuable insights into driving patterns and external conditions like weather and traffic. This results to optimized routes, safer rides, and even smarter map data for all drivers in the ecosystem.
