Six Pustakom Staff Suspended After Alleged Involvement In Illegal Heavy Vehicle Syndicate
Six Pustakom staff have been suspended due to suspicion of participating in a syndicate that approves illegal heavy vehicles. The CEO of Pustakom, Mahmood Razak Bahman stated that the company will take matters seriously, and that they will not tolerate any corruption.
“As I have stressed repeatedly, Puspakom will never compromise on corruption. If there’s any evidence of the offence, we will not hesitate to take strong action towards any staff involved. It includes those who work with syndicates to approve vehicle inspections illegally,” he stated.
“Puspakom will not protect anyone involved in corruption.”
The six staff along with 2 more individuals were caught red handed after being summoned by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) due to allegations of the syndicate’s existence. The staff have been released after giving their statements, whereas the other 2 individuals were identified as runners for the syndicate, detaining them further for 5 days.
This detaining comes from the initiative of curbing the issue of heavy vehicle accidents, such as the multiple-vehicle pile-up on PLUS in Melaka that took 7 lives last month.
