Proton Sold 152,352 Vehicles In 2024, 1.5% Decrease From 2023
Proton closed off their sales last month with 14,601 vehicles sold in December, providing a total of 152,352 units in 2024. Despite having a good run with December’s sales figures being 19.7% more than November, the national carmaker had a decrease of 1.5% over the previous 154,611 units in 2023.
|The 152,352 sales figures encompass domestic vehicles as well as exported ones too, with the latter being 4,765 units. The automaker’s export efforts resulted in a 31% increase from the new CKD facility established in Egypt during late 2024.
Egypt is currently Proton’s largest export destination with 1,748 units sold, whereas our neighboring Brunei takes second place as the nation saw 1,200 units driving out of dealerships.
As for the best selling model, the Proton Saga is still the crown jewel of national automaker’s lineup, with it encompassing 61% of the overall export sales (2,906 units) and 6,675 units in 2024 alone.
Although Proton has dipped in sales for the first time in 5 years, the automaker still ranks second overall with a total market share of 18.7% within Malaysia's new Total Industry Volume (TIV) record of 814,000 units.
