New Honda Prelude Coming in 2026! With Some New Details
Previously seen at KLIMS 2024, the new Honda Prelude will be coming in 2026 and there are some juicy details that have been revealed by Honda themselves.
Just like what Honda had said, the new Prelude will feature a 2.0 liter inline four engine with two electric motors powering the front wheels, making around 184HP. While it may sound slow for most of you, the Prelude was never intended for blistering top speeds or 0-100 kmph times.
“The performance will not be defined by specification, torque or top speed, these are just numbers on a piece of paper that do not really represent and reflect the dynamic feeling to the driver.”, said Honda’s Chief Engineer Tomouki Yamagami in an interview with carwow.
The hybrid engine is paired with a CVT and has a special virtual gear shift feature called the S+ shift technology. While the inclusion of a CVT is quite disappointing for most of us as they aren’t known for fun, the S+ shift may be our saving grace. The S+ shift is similar to that of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, where it simulates the sound and feel of a gearchange to make the driver feel more mechanically involved. If that’s anything to go off from then it’s a good sign that this car won’t disappoint.
The paint jobs available aren’t confirmed yet but BestCar Japan says that it will come in 5 colours, which are Platinum White, Crystal Black, Sonic Gray, Premium Crystal Red, and Seabed Blue.
The price tag for the Prelude is speculated to be around 4.5 million to 4.6 million yen, which is approximately RM128,682 to RM131,485. Not a bad price for such a sleek coupe in this day and age but only time will tell if the new Prelude will be just as affordable as its predecessor.
