Nissan has an EV R32 GTR Concept To Debut at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon
As the year is closing out, the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon is near its launch and Nissan has just announced that they will exhibit in their booths. Among them lies a surprising entry of an electrified version of the BNR32 Nissan GTR developed by volunteer engineers from Nissan.
The electric Godzilla, codenamed “R32EV”, is designed to be a concept model that gives a “what-if” conversion to the original gas powered version. On their official social media outlets, they’ve said that this car aims to pursue and reproduce the charm of the original BNR32 from all those years ago with modern technology.
Although removing the RB26DETT in favor of a two EV motor feels like sacrilege, you’ve got to give Nissan credit for at least giving us a glimpse into what could’ve been a modern R32 GTR. It may weigh even more than it already did given the 2 EV motors and battery pack, but at least it still looks cool (No 3rd pedal sadly).
No details on the specifics but it's probably the same EV AWD setup from the Nissan Ariya, which if true, would mean that the R32EV has around 430hp and 600nm. Again, this is just speculation and we would have to wait till Jan 10 next year.
The R32EV will be joined by other concepts and builds but there’s 4 that are especially interesting. The first being the Nissan X-Trail Unwind and Remastered Concept, which the Unwind is based on the current X-Trail but with e-Power, whereas the Remastered is a refinement of the previous generation X-Trail. Both of them have new muscular body kits, large black fender garnishes and a Khaki green paint job.
The next will be a “Disaster Support Spec” Nissan Caravan, which is an upgrade to the previous “Disaster Support Mobile Hub” from last year. In addition to daily use, the concept car also now has mechanisms for disaster support that can last several days in the event of a disaster.
The last two models would be the Nissan Aura and Serena AUTECH Sports Spec. This spec is AUTECH’s new model that combines sportiness with luxury.
There will be special tuning to the suspension, body chassis, power steering and ECU to enhance the handling feel and performance for a more sportier drive.
