Zeekr 009 MPV Launched in Malaysia: Another Premium MPV, Another Alphard Rival

The Zeekr 009 has officially entered the Malaysian market alongside the Zeekr X, providing a new offering in the premium MPV segment. Positioned as a strong competitor to the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, the Zeekr 009 starts at just under RM350,000. Represented in Malaysia by Sentinel Automotive, Zeekr aims to spread their market share in Malaysia with showrooms currently open in Petaling Jaya and Sunway City. Expansion plans are already in motion, with new showrooms planned for Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Melaka, and Sarawak.

The Zeekr 009 is available in two distinct variants: Luxury and Ultra Luxury. While both models share almost identical specifications, they differ primarily in their seating arrangements and interior luxury details.

The Luxury variant, priced at RM349,800, features a 7-seat layout arranged in a 2-2-3 configuration. It includes a 60:40 split-folding third-row bench, which provides flexibility for families needing extra seating or cargo space. The interiors come standard with Nappa leather upholstery, along with power-adjustable front and second-row seats that include massage and ventilation functions.

On the other hand, the Ultra Luxury variant, priced at RM359,800, has a 6-seat configuration instead in a 2-2-2 layout. The second-row seats are wider and more luxurious, complete with foldable tray tables and a hidden control panel, making this a truly "Ultra Luxury" experience.

In terms of size, the Zeekr 009 surpasses the Alphard and Vellfire, proving slightly more space and comfort for the passengers. It has a length of 5,209 mm, a width of 2,024 mm, and a height of 1,848 mm, along with a 3,205 mm wheelbase, making this a pretty good people hauler.

Inside the Zeekr 009, the MPV is equipped with touch-sensitive panels on the sliding doors, which controls the door and climate controls. Other standout features include a panoramic sunroof, an 8.6-litre refrigerator, and a ceiling-mounted 17-inch OLED display to keep the kids entertained for those long drives.

For the driver, the Zeekr 009 offers a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.05-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, and a 39.95-inch augmented reality head-up display. The centre console includes a 50W wireless charging pad as well as a 30-speaker Yamaha sound system.

Under the hood, the Zeekr 009 is powered by a dual-motor setup, delivering an impressive 612 PS (603 hp) and 693 Nm of torque, allowing the the MPV to blast from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. For such a heavy MPV those numbers are pretty insane.

The vehicle features a large 116-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, which offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 582 km. Charging is also convenient, with AC charging support at 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 150 kW, which can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

As for safety, the Zeekr 009 includes 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a variety of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These features include adaptive cruise control, lane centring, automatic lane change, and autonomous emergency braking. 

Zeekr are offering a 5-year, 150,000-km vehicle warranty, an 8-year, 160,000-km battery warranty, and 2 years of free connected services for the MPV.
