Honda Malaysia has just unveiled the Prelude concept at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, the first time that the concept car has been seen outside of Japan. However, unlike the white model we’ve seen at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, this one is painted in a bright red, which let’s be honest, is a much more befitting colour for the exciting return of this legendary name.

The Prelude was an incredibly popular nameplate during their 3rd and 4th generation run. It was a 2 door coupe, had VTEC, 4 wheel steering and most importantly, it was cheap. Both enthusiasts and car buyers loved this car to bits, but it just didn’t sell well by its 5th generation. It was sadly discontinued in 2001 and was left in car purgatory, until last year when it made its return.

The Prelude concept is just, chef's kiss, jawdroppingly gorgeous. It has a beautiful, cursive roofline that reaches from the front to the back. The front of the car has a boxy design with sharp, hawk-like headlights on the sides, along with 2 light bars that wrap around the angular nose. There’s also a lower honeycomb grille that’s attached to an aggressive looking front splitter that really gives it that race/street style vibe. I really like how Honda complimented the round design language of the body with the boxy nature of the front.

The rear of the vehicle looks to be inspired by the Porsche 911 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, with a

single tail light that goes across the entire backend and a duckbill spoiler above it. It also boasts a pretty large rear diffuser along with Brembo brakes hiding behind the 20-inch wheels.

So far, the only details we have from Honda is that it’s gonna be a hybrid. No performance figures or production confirmation as of yet but some speculate we’ll probably see it sometime next year. If you haven’t bought tickets to KLIMS 2024 yet, I’d highly recommend you do so as this concept alone is worth every single ringgit to see it with your own eyes.
