It’s finally revealed! Perodua has just unveiled their long awaited EMO-2 concept at KLIMS 2024 and it’s quite the looker if I must say. The national carmaker calls it “the next evolution of its prototype battery electric vehicle”, while their 3rd production iteration will be launched next year.

Where the first EMO was an electrified version of the Myvi, the EMO-2 is almost entirely new from the inside and out (Still made from Fiberglass). It now looks way more angular and sporty with sharp corners all around. Perodua have really outdone themselves with the lighting, with the front having a Prius-ish lightbar design and an RGB front lip. It also gets these pixel LEDs on the front bumper and side skirts which really enhances that digital theme.

The EMO-2 also has a slight widebody look going for it, with the front and rear fenders bulging outwards in style, complimented with 19-inch wheels covered in heptagonal aero covers. The rear view is the coolest part of this car, boasting a massive rear diffuser, an adequately sized spoiler, pixel decals on the rear window, and an extremely angular tailgate.

The interior of the EMO-2 takes notes from some sports cars. Perodua has put in 4 bucket seats ,along with the dashboard and infotainment system curving towards the driver, making this a driver-centric cabin. The center console has a push-button gear selector, a second touchscreen display for climate control and a built-in wireless Qi charger for extra measure.

There’s no official specifications yet, but Perodua states that the range would be 400km to 410km and a 0-100kmph time of 6 to 7 seconds.

The national carmaker also confirmed that this will be a separate nameplate from the outgoing Myvi, and that they’ll aim to make the production version the cheapest EV in Malaysia, at just below RM 90k. They also aim to “eliminate range anxiety” as they plan to set up multiple charging facilities.
