Edaran Tan Chong Motor (Nissan Malaysia) has officially launched their highly anticipated Nissan Kicks e-Power at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS). This compact SUV has three variants available, with the base VL model kicking off at RM113,800, then RM121,800 for the VLT, and finally a two-tone version of the VLT at RM125,800 (OTR Prices).

The Kicks measures at 4290mm in length, 1760mm in width, and 1605mm in height, with a 2620mm wheelbase, which makes it taller and slightly longer than the similarly priced Mazda CX-3.

Under the hood, the Kicks e-Power gets its “kick” from an impressive EV/Hybrid setup, rocking an electric motor (129PS, 280Nm) at the front that’s paired with a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated inline-3 (82PS, 103Nm). However, the engine is solely used to generate power for the battery and it doesn’t drive any wheels. The 0-100kmph takes around 9.8 seconds and 100-120kmph in 4 seconds.

The thing that Nissan’s been boasting about is the claimed 21.7 km per liter fuel consumption, which results in a total of 900km worth of range in a single full tank. It also gets the usual mode selections like sports, normal, eco and EV mode (2.5km range) but there’s a new mode called the one-pedal-e-Pedal Step mode. It’s a mouthful but it allows drivers to accelerate and decelerate with only the throttle, while also using regenerative braking to recharge the battery.

The VLT gets everything the VL has but adds on a digital rearview mirror, along with a two-tone leather interior that's coloured in black and a reddish brown.

Nissan claims that the Kicks e-Power was designed with low maintenance in mind, costing around RM 3,624 for 100,000km over 5 years, which is lower than most compact SUV’s currently on the market.

The Kicks e-Power will be available in 6 different colours which includes Brilliant White Pearl, Sunrise Orange, Red Pearl, Brilliant Silver, and Black Star. The two-tone VLT variant gets an option for a Super Black roof and an exclusive body colour, Dark Metal Gray.
