GWM Wey 80 previewed in KLIMS 2024: 487PS, 7 Seater MPV, New Alphard Contender?
GWM has just unveiled the new Wey 80 alongside the Tank 500 at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show , it’s a 7 seater luxury MPV that has set its sight on taking down the Toyota Alphard, Lexus LM and Denza D9.
Unlike the Tank 500 however, the show unit that you’re looking at right now is still very much a preview unit with it being left hand drive. However, the MPV could be making it into the market very soon with it constantly appearing in RHD markets including Thailand.
The Wey 80 measures at 5045 mm in length, 1960mm in width, and 1900mm in height, along with a 3085mm wheelbase, which means lots of head room and leg space for everyone.
As for powertrain specifications, the Wey 80 features a Hi4 plug-in hybrid that uses a 1.5 liter turbocharged inline-4 (156PS) paired with two electric motors, one at the front with 177 PS and one at the rear with 183 PS, offering a combined power output of a whopping 487 PS and 782Nm of torque. The electric only mode has some pretty good range with 150km of travel.

The luxurious interior is probably the star of the show, with it offering quilted leather, dual suspension zero-gravity seats, foldable table trays behind the passenger and driver seats, 16 Harman Kardon speakers, an air fragrance system and surprisingly, a 12.5L refrigerator that’s capable of adjusting temperatures from 0-50 Celsius , wine and cheese anyone?
Prices are still unconfirmed by GWM but it’ll probably be revealed once they start manufacturing the RHD versions of the MPV.
