Perodua EMO-II Concept Teased Ahead of KLIMS 2024
Perodua has officially released a teaser for the EMO-II concept, a follow-up to its EMO-I prototype, marking this their first fully electric vehicle (EV). The EMO-II concept will debut at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2024, happening from December 5–11 at MITEC.
Unlike its predecessor, the EMO-I—essentially an electric version of the Perodua Myvi—the EMO-II adopts a more modern and dynamic design. Early glimpses reveal a sleek and sporty profile, highlighted by an aggressive front-end with illuminated light strips and a glowing Perodua badge. At the rear, the sporty accent continues with sharp bumper lines and a Formula One-inspired rain light.
Details on the powertrain remain under wraps, but it may retain or change from the EMO-I’s specifications, which included:
A front-mounted motor producing 163 hp and 315 Nm of torque.
A 57.6 kWh battery pack enabling a range of approximately 400 km.
Charging capabilities of up to 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC, allowing full charges in about
5 hours (AC) or 1 hour (DC)
Perodua is targeting a competitive price under RM100,000 for its production EV, aligning with Malaysia's goals to enhance EV affordability. Mass production is anticipated to commence in late 2025.
With the EMO-II concept, Perodua seems to be jumping into the EV market head first against fierce competition, time will tell if this becomes the next Myvi. We’ll be keeping an eye out for this at the event so stay tuned for comprehensive coverage as KLIMS 2024 unfolds!
