Next-Gen Toyota Camry to Make Debut at KLIMS 2024
UMW Toyota Motor is set to showcase the new 2024 Toyota Camry at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) from December 5-11, 2024. This marks the Malaysian debut of the ninth-generation Camry, which has already been introduced in key ASEAN markets like Thailand and Singapore. KLIMS 2024, themed “Beyond Mobility,” highlights innovations in sustainable and electric mobility, making it the ideal stage for this unveiling.
The new Camry adopts Toyota’s signature “hammerhead” grille design, seen in models like the Prius, Crown and C-HR. Its sleek styling includes C-shaped LED daytime running lights mirrored in the taillights, lending it a bold, futuristic appeal. The Thai market offers three hybrid variants—Premium Luxury, Premium, and Smart—featuring a 2.5-liter hybrid engine that delivers a combined 227 PS with smooth power distribution via an e-CVT transmission. Suspension remains the same with MacPherson struts at the front and a double-wishbone setup at the rear, albeit with some fine tuning for better ride quality.
Inside, the Camry embraces a minimalist horizontal dashboard design, equipped with dual 12.3-inch screens on higher variants (7 inch for base). The top Thai trim offers features such as ventilated memory front seats, a nine-speaker JBL audio system, wireless charging pad, paddle shifters, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and three zone climate control.
Price remains uncertain but for reference, the Thai variants start from 1.45 million baht (RM187,422).
