Want to have both a truck and SUV but just don’t have the money to own both? The Deepal E07 EV aims to solve this dilemma as it just made its debut in Thailand.

The E07 has an almost coupe-like roof slope design, with its size measuring 5,045 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height,  with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. The rear of the vehicle is what’s really interesting as it has an electronic retractable cover to reveal its truck bed, sort of similar to how the Cybertruck does it. It's able to load 524-liters worth of cargo on the bed along with another 131-liter frunk. The vehicle also features a ground clearance of 192 mm, making it versatile enough for some weekend off-road adventures, as well as a water wading depth of 600 mm.

The Deepal E07 is available in two performance variants: the Plus and Performance AWD. The Plus variant is rear-wheel drive (RWD), powered by a 342 PS (252 kW) electric motor delivering 365 Nm of torque, which allows for a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds. On the other hand, the Performance AWD variant features dual motors, offering a combined output of 598 PS (440 kW) and 645 Nm of torque, which rockets from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.96 seconds. Both variants share the same 89.98 kWh battery (nickel manganese cobalt) but offer different ranges: the Plus provides up to 640 km on a full charge (NEDC), while the Performance AWD offers 590 km. Fast charging capabilities are a highlight, with DC fast charging allowing the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

The vehicle is equipped with double wishbone suspension at the front and a H-arm multi-link setup for the rear, allowing for some surprisingly sporty handling. Additionally, the Performance AWD variant comes with air suspension, providing enhanced comfort and stability, particularly when tackling uneven terrain. This setup is supported by continuous damping control, which makes the ride feel really smooth and soft.

Inside, the E07 offers a spacious, minimalist design highlighted by a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin features powered zero-gravity front seats with ventilation, and a 60:40 split-folding rear seat for flexible storage. For audiophiles, the vehicle is equipped with a premium 18-speaker sound system for an immersive audio experience

The Deepal E07 comes with an array of safety features, including active safety systems like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Additionally, the E07 is equipped with six airbags and a strong body structure designed to protect occupants in the event of a collision. For added convenience, it also offers a transparent chassis feature, which provides the driver with an enhanced view of their surroundings.

In terms of pricing, the Plus variant starts at 1.599 million baht (around RM207,000), while the Performance AWD is priced at 1.999 million baht (RM259,000).

It's already been previously confirmed that Deepal will be officially distributed in Malaysia under the control of Bermaz Auto, so we'll probably be seeing these on the street pretty soon.
