Ride the New Electric Honda Motocompacto for Free at KLIMS 2024!
Honda Malaysia is set to showcase the Honda Motocompacto, a compact and foldable electric scooter, at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS), taking place from December 5 to 11 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). This modern-day version of the iconic Honda Motocompo from the 1980s promises to capture the imagination of visitors with its quirky design and cutting-edge features.
The original Motocompo, which was a 50cc petrol-powered scooter, was designed to fit in the rear boot of the first-generation Honda City. In contrast, the Motocompacto brings this nostalgic concept into the electric era. Powered by a front-mounted electric motor delivering 16 Nm of torque, the Motocompacto offers far more power than its predecessor. Despite its small size and cute design, this modern version is equipped with a 6.8 Ah battery that provides a 20 km range and a top speed of 24 km/h, which sounds like quite a thrill on a mini scooter like that.
Weighing only 18.7 kg, the Motocompacto's foldable design makes it incredibly convenient for storage and transport, whether in a car or on public transport. When folded, it measures just 742 mm in length and 536 mm in height, making it easy to store in tight spaces. It also features practical elements like an LED headlight and taillight, side reflectors, onboard storage, a digital speedometer, a charge gauge, and a carrying handle.
Developed by Honda engineers in Ohio and California, the Motocompacto is priced at USD 995 (RM 4,420). However, visitors to KLIMS 2024 will have the chance to try it out for free at the Honda Malaysia booth, making for a fun time at the Honda Malaysia booth as you also get to see the Honda Prelude concept as well.
