Sultan Brunei Secretive Car Collection Got Leaked, It’s Even Crazier Than You Think.
On Sunday, a new Instagram account by the username of brunei_cars_2001 flooded social media with hundreds of photos showing the secretive car collection owned by the Sultan of Brunei. There’s even a Google Drive link to most of the photos showing the collection. We’re talking about extremely rare McLarens, Porsches, Ferraris, Bugattis etc, many of which have never been seen by the public eye. So strap in, get some snacks and get ready to feast your eyes on the Sultan’s absolute bonkers of a collection.
These photos have allegedly been taken around the 2000’s so it’s unknown exactly where these cars are today. There's no confirmation on the amount or models of the cars, however this article claims that the collection has around 7000 cars, and even showcases the whole listing of models. So it’s safe to say that I won’t be showing all the cars on that list because it would take forever! However I’ve handpicked some of the craziest cars in the collection starting with:
McLaren F1: He Has How Many?
Many know the McLaren F1 as one of the fastest and rarest cars in the world. It’s a prestigious car and few individuals have had the chance to even see the car with their own eyes. And then there's the Sultan of Brunei, who owns not 1, not 2, not 3, but a mind-boggling 11 McLaren F1s. What’s even crazier is that 3 out of those 11 cars are McLaren F1 LMs, of which only 5 examples have ever been made.
“Oh and I’ll get another F1 GTR because why not?”, said probably by the Sultan.
Bugatti EB110SS: Weird, But So Cool
Out of 4 Bugatti EB110SS’s just casually sitting in the Sultan’s collection, lies this special one. This particular EB110SS has special red and yellow racing stripes on the side of the car, even the spokes on the wheels have the same colour stripes, plus a few blue stripes added on. In addition to the stripes, the interior is even crazier.
Despite the interesting choice of colour palette, this is the most insane looking cabin I’ve ever seen, and probably the coolest too.
Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione: Father of the F40
The Sultan’s collection has no shortage of Ferrari’s, including F40’s, Mythos, Testarossas, just to name a few. But the best part of his Ferrari collection is this 288 GTO Evo, which was the prancing horse’s attempt at making it for Group B Rally before it was cancelled for being too dangerous. Would’ve liked to see an alternate universe where this beautiful machine competed against the likes of the Porsche 959 though.
This is 1 of 6 ever made, making it the rarest Ferrari in his collection.
Dauer 962 LeMans: Street Legal Porsche Race Car
Most people recognize the legendary 962C race car from Porsche, but have you heard of its street legal brother? Dauer isn’t affiliated with Porsche but they used to race their cars back in the day. After nearing bankruptcy, they decided to make a company that used the 962C shells left from their motorsport days to build a highly requested street legal version.
13 cars were ever made and the Sultan has 5 of them sitting in his garage, painted in colours of red, silver, yellow, green and black.
Aston Martin Virage Superleggera: Did They Have This Trim?
I was browsing through the hundreds of photos on the Drive link when I saw something that caught my eye, 3 Aston Martin Virage Superleggeras. Most people think of the DB5 or Vanquish when the British brand is mentioned, however the Virage is what saved Aston Martin from death. Despite the Virage already being extremely rare at around 1000 units produced, I never knew they made a Superleggera trim for it.
No google search results either, it just shows the Virage Volante instead. Either this is a typo from the Google Drive author, or that these are the only 3 Virage Superleggera’s in existence. Quite the mystery.
Bentley Albatross AWD: Bentley What?
Speaking of never before heard car models, this is something called the Bentley Albatross AWD. Just like the Virage Superleggera, there's currently no information about this car at all, other than the fact that it literally looks like a Turbo R, which perplexes me.
Well someone certainly loves golfing. The dashboard is filled with photos of golfers, matched with a green and white leather interior. Wonder if the Sultan commissioned this from Bentley as his exclusive golf cart?
And that's all folks, there are much, much more rare and wacky cars within the collection but these are what I thought were the most notable. On a personal note, although these cars are breathtaking even through photos, seeing these beautiful machines left to rot in a place somewhere in a facility pains me. These cars should be driven around as they were meant to, or at the very least, meticulously taken care of instead of neglecting it. Ultimately, the Sultan’s collection is an absolutely stunning one and every enthusiast should at least take a peak into the Google Drive photos. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.
