Dongfeng Box EV launches in Malaysia: 310km range compact EV priced from RM101k

The Dongfeng Box EV, also known as the Nammi 01 in China, has officially launched in Malaysia. Distributed by Central Auto Distributors under the Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders Association of Malaysia (Pekema), the Box EV aims to redefine urban electric mobility with competitive pricing and standout features.

Pricing & Launch Offers

The Box EV is available in two variants:

• E2: Priced at RM100,700 (OTR before insurance)
• E3: Priced at RM113,700 (OTR before insurance)

For customers registering their vehicles before the year ends, a range of perks is included:

• Portable Charger: Valued at RM1,088
• Front Cabin Storage: Worth RM1,250
• Choice of one additional gift:
  • RM3,000 charging credit (terms apply)
  • Home wall charger (worth RM3,288)
  • Service maintenance package worth RM3,000

Performance & Battery Specifications

The Dongfeng Box EV features a 95 PS/160 Nm front-mounted electric motor, enabling a top speed of 140 km/h. Each variant is equipped with an LFP battery, offering robust range and charging flexibility:

• E2 Variant:

  • Battery Capacity: 31.45 kWh
  • Range: 330 km (CLTC)
  • Charging: 3.3 kW AC
    
    

• E3 Variant:

  • Battery Capacity: 42.3 kWh
  • Range: 430 km (CLTC)
  • Charging: 6.6 kW AC

Both models support DC fast charging, capable of recharging from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes (maximum DC rate yet to be disclosed).

Eye-Catching Design

Inspired by contemporary aesthetics, the Dongfeng Box EV features:

• Floating Roof Design: Highlighted by a wraparound windscreen and distinct C-pillar cutout
• Flush Door Handles & Frameless Windows: Adding a touch of sophistication
• Lighting: LED headlamps, tail lamps, and a full-width front light bar

Wheel designs differ between variants, with aero-covered steel wheels on the E2 and stylish two-tone alloys on the E3.

Color options include white, purple, green, and blue, with the E3 offering a white roof option for an additional RM2,000 (not applicable to white-bodied cars).

Inside, the Box EV delivers a modern and functional experience:

• Touchscreen Display: A standout 12.8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Fun features include an animated cat home screen and customisable quotes.
• Quilted Faux Leather Upholstery: Present across the cabin for a premium feel
• Floating Centre Console: Integrated with a 50W Qi wireless charger and ample storage
• Ambient Lighting: 32 colours to enhance cabin ambience
• Comfort Features: Auto air-conditioning, a frameless rear-view mirror, and proximity locking/unlocking

Safety & ADAS

Safety is prioritised in the E3 variant, featuring Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like:

• Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
• Lane Centering Assist
• Traffic Sign Recognition

However, all variants are equipped with only two airbags.

Warranty & Availability

Dongfeng backs the Box EV with comprehensive warranties:

• Vehicle Warranty: 5 years/150,000 km
• Battery Warranty: 8 years/150,000 km

Currently, 16 authorised dealers and two Klang Valley experience centres are prepared to serve customers. Local assembly (CKD) is expected to begin next year, making the EV even more accessible.
