KL marathon 2024: road closures & diversions on October 5-6—Plan Ahead

The Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2024 is scheduled for October 5 and 6, and the Kuala Lumpur Police have announced extensive road closures and diversions to ensure smooth traffic management during the event. With thousands of participants expected, here's what road users need to know to avoid disruptions.

Key Affected Roads:

Several major roads in the city will be fully or partially closed across both event days. Some of the prominent roads affected include:

• Jalan Raja Laut
• Jalan Sultan Ismail
• Jalan Ampang
• Jalan Tun Perak
• Jalan Raja Chulan

The closures will be enforced from the early morning hours, starting at 3:00 AM on October 5, and will extend until the completion of the event on October 6, around 12:00 PM. Drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid these routes and follow the diversions.

Traffic Diversions:

During this period, traffic will be diverted to alternative routes. Drivers can use Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kuching, and Jalan Istana as alternatives, with traffic police and signage in place to assist with the diversions. If you are planning to drive through central Kuala Lumpur, consider taking a different route or using public transport to avoid the marathon zone.

Public Transportation:

Public transport will be fully operational, with additional services provided to accommodate the influx of spectators and participants. If you're planning to be in the city, using the LRT, MRT, or buses is highly recommended for convenience and to avoid road closures.
