In light of the recent SSPA (Salary Structure and Pay Adjustment) salary increase, the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) has announced a strategic enhancement to its counter operations. Effective immediately, JPJ offices in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Johor will extend their counter services by an additional hour, twice a week.

This initiative aims to accommodate the growing demand for JPJ services, particularly in these highly populated and economically significant regions. The extra hour of operation is set to provide greater convenience to the public, allowing more flexibility for individuals to complete their transactions without the stress of time constraints.

Why the Extension?

With the SSPA salary increase, the JPJ workforce is expected to be better compensated, which in turn boosts morale and productivity. By extending operating hours, JPJ not only addresses the increased workload resulting from the population growth in these states but also improves the overall efficiency of its services. This move is seen as a direct response to the government's effort to enhance public service delivery in tandem with improved compensation for civil servants.

What to Expect?

The extended hours will be implemented on selected days of the week, where counters will remain open for an additional hour beyond the usual closing time. This change is expected to significantly reduce the long queues and waiting times that have often been a source of frustration for customers. The exact days of the extended hours will be communicated via JPJ’s official channels and local announcements, so it’s advisable to stay updated.

For residents of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Johor, this extension offers a more flexible window to handle essential vehicle-related tasks such as license renewals, road tax payments, and other JPJ-related services. It is particularly beneficial for those with demanding work schedules, as they now have more options to visit JPJ offices outside of regular business hours.

The decision to add an extra hour of operation twice a week in key states is a welcome change that reflects JPJ’s commitment to improving public service. As the public takes advantage of these extended hours, the Motorist app can also be a helpful tool for managing car-related tasks efficiently. Whether it’s finding the nearest JPJ office, checking your vehicle's road tax status, or even selling your car, the Motorist app offers a range of features to make your life easier.

Stay tuned for further updates on the specific days and times of the extended counter hours, and make the most of this new convenience offered by JPJ.
