MyJalan: 14k+ complaints on potholes by apr 19
Malaysian drivers are making their voices heard! A recent report indicates that the MyJalan app, launched by the Works Ministry last August, has been actively used to report road damage.
As of April 19, 2024, a staggering 14,031 complaints have been submitted through the app, highlighting concerns over potholes and general road disrepair.
The data reveals a significant need for road maintenance. Nearly a third (27%), translating to 3,776 complaints, pinpoint issues on roads under the purview of the Public Works Department. An even larger portion (73% or 10,255 complaints) concern roads overseen by other ministries.
The Works Ministry assures that they are addressing the problem. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan stated that 86% of complaints falling under their responsibility have already been resolved. For potholes and damage on federal roads and highways, their aim is to ensure patching is completed within 24 hours, and they report a 100% success rate in achieving this target so far.
Launched in August 2023, MyJalan empowers citizens to report road issues directly to the authorities. This initiative seems to be paying off, with a significant number of complaints registered within a short timeframe. As more Malaysians utilize the app, it's likely that the reported figures will continue to rise, providing valuable data for prioritizing road maintenance efforts.
