Road completely closed, traffic diverted to opposite lane towards Penang Bridge

Penang residents traveling towards the Penang Bridge tonight (April 23rd) and tomorrow (April 24th) are advised to plan their journeys accordingly due to a scheduled lane closure on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

What to Expect:

• A complete closure of one lane on the expressway heading towards the bridge will be in effect from 10pm tonight to 5am tomorrow.

• All four lanes near The Light area (between 'Line M, CH 1.1 – CH 1.9') will be impacted.

• A contraflow arrangement will be implemented, utilizing two lanes usually for Georgetown traffic to manage the flow towards the bridge.

Cause of the Closure:

The lane closure is necessary to facilitate construction activities undertaken by IJM Corp.

Safety and Tips:

Motorists are urged to drive with caution in the area and pay close attention to the signage for the contraflow.
