Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan has announced the impending toll fee exemptions by the Malaysian government aligned with the Christmas celebration.

Bernama reports that the anticipated declaration, scheduled for Friday, December 22, will specify the precise toll exemption timeline for the festive period.

Maslan emphasised that the government earmarks an average of RM21 million per day dedicated to toll exemptions granted to highway concessionaires.

This year alone, the government disbursed RM80.07 million for toll-free passages during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, RM42.31 million during Deepavali, and RM41.21 million for the Chinese New Year festivities.

These toll fee exemptions are intricately woven into the government's broader initiatives, aiming to streamline and enhance citizens' travel experiences during festive seasons.
