Honda is gearing up to launch the upgraded Odyssey luxury minivan in Japan, boasting enhancements in design, comfort, and functionality. This revamped model will also introduce a fresh hybrid-electric version called the e:HEV Absolute Ex Black Edition.

The renewed Odyssey will be available in three types: e:HEV Absolute, e:HEV Absolute Ex, and the newly unveiled e:HEV Absolute Ex Black Edition. All three will be powered by a 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC + Two-motor hybrid system paired with an eCVT transmission.

While retaining key features from previous Odyssey iterations, like sedan-like driving stability and distinct minivan styling facilitated by the low-floor platform, the updated model will enhance original styling and cabin space to better cater to customer preferences.

A redesigned front grille, with an enlarged opening and five horizontal plated bars, will emphasize a broader and more upscale appearance. Additional architectural details will further elevate the overall styling, creating a robust and commanding presence. The e:HEV Absolute Ex Black Edition will stand out with a black chrome-plated front grille, black smoked lenses on rear combination lights, matte Berlina Black 18-inch aluminum wheels, and black roof and pillar linings, showcasing a sophisticated aesthetic.

In terms of interior upgrades, the second row in all variants will feature four-way power seats for more precise adjustments, along with standard amenities like heated seats, a foldable center table, armrests with a mini table, and a Type-C USB charger, all aimed at enhancing passenger comfort.

Highlighting the luxurious aspects are genuine leather seats, a wireless charger, and a hands-free access power tailgate, meeting the demands of customers seeking elevated comfort and quality.

New additions include a deceleration selector for adjusting the deceleration rate and an electric gear selector for smoother shifting using a single finger.

Safety remains a priority, with the Honda Sensing advanced safety and driver-assistive system featuring three new functions: Low Speed Brake Function, Auto High Beam Headlights, and Unintended Acceleration Mitigation. The Collision Mitigation Braking System detection range has been expanded for enhanced safety across different driving scenarios.

For the first time, Honda Connect, an in-vehicle communication module with connected technologies, is integrated into the Odyssey. The Honda Total Care Premium connected service offers remote control of the air-conditioning unit via a smartphone and in-vehicle WiFi for added comfort during long rides.

The updated Odyssey encapsulates Honda's dedication to delivering a premium and technologically advanced minivan experience for its Japanese customers. However, despite the 2022 facelift of the Odyssey being priced at RM275,311, the introduction of the new e:HEV model at an unspecified cost might be unlikely in other markets.
