Toyota Showcases New Battery Electric Model with Sport Crossover Concept
Toyota has revealed its Sport Crossover Concept in Europe, giving a glimpse of a forthcoming battery-electric model slated to be part of its lineup by 2025. Unveiled at Toyota's Kenshiki forum in Brussels, this concept boasts a sleek aerodynamic profile and distinct fastback design, positioning it as a symbol of innovation for the company's dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) range.
Initially showcased at Auto Shanghai in April, the Sport Crossover Concept was jointly developed for both the Chinese and European markets by BYD Toyota EV Technology Co. Ltd. (BTET), a collaborative venture between Toyota and BYD.
This concept targets newcomers to the electric car scene and presents itself as an elegant option compared to traditional SUVs, emphasizing spaciousness with five doors, ample cargo space, and generous rear legroom.
Toyota's comprehensive strategy revolves around achieving carbon neutrality through a lineup featuring advanced, alternative fuel, and zero-emission powertrain technologies.
In Europe, Toyota aims to roll out six dedicated BEV models by 2026, aligning with its objective to exclusively offer Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) by 2035 and achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2040.
