The Motorist Guide to renewing your driving licence online
In Malaysia, every driver's licence is issued with an expiration date, and it falls upon you to ensure timely renewal to steer clear of any complications.
Thankfully, besides the conventional renewal methods at post offices or Road Transport Department (RTD/JPJ) offices, you have the option of online renewal through platforms like MyJPJ App, Starting from February 1, 2024, Malaysians have the convenience of renewing their driving licenses through the Road Transport Department's MyJPJ app.
Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke has announced a special incentive for those opting for the digital driving license, known as the e-Lesen Memandu Malaysia (e-LMM). Upon renewal, users of this digital license will receive a rebate of RM5.00. This offer is applicable until December 31, 2024.
Moreover, there's a new development that allows road users to drive without the need to carry physical copies of their driving license and road tax. Since February 10, 2023, Malaysian private vehicle owners can utilize the JPJ Public Portal or the MyJPJ phone application to present their Digital Road Tax (e-LKM) and Digital Driving License (e-LMM). Even a screenshot of their online data suffices, and all this information can be accessed and verified online by authorities.
